Vinicius Jr has signed a new four-year deal with Real Madrid, the LaLiga giants confirmed on Tuesday.
The contract deal will keep the Brazil international at the Santiago Bernabeu until June 2027.
Vinicius joined Los Blancos in 2018 when he was just 18 years old. Since then, he has played in 235 games for the club, scored 63 goals, and won nine major trophies, including two LaLiga championships.
The 23-year-old scored the winner when Real beat Liverpool in the Champions League final in 2022 to capture a 14th European Cup.
Vinicius has racked up three goals in 10 games in all competitions so far this season.
Racist slurs have been a blight on the Brazilian’s time in LaLiga.
In the latest event in a long series of situations Vinicius has had to cope with, he was allegedly racially harassed as he was substituted in injury time during Real’s 2-1 win against Barcelona on Saturday.
LaLiga stated that an investigation had been initiated and that it had been made aware of the occurrence.
From the beginning, LaLiga has been working to identify those responsible for the racist slurs and will press charges against them, the organization said in a statement.
We are working in tandem with FC Barcelona and the Catalan police force, the Mossos d’Esquadra.
