Lionel Messi is on the verge of winning his eighth Ballon d’Or, but he is yet to receive one award that Cristiano Ronaldo and others have won: the Golden Foot. Despite his recent World Cup triumph with Argentina and individual accolades, Messi has not achieved the Golden Foot award, according to Sport Bible. The likes of Ronaldo, Mohamed Salah, Luka Modric, and Robert Lewandowski have all won it, but Messi’s name remains a glaring omission. Last year, Lewandowski graciously acknowledged the magnitude of winning the award and how hard he had to work for it. With Messi’s recent move to Inter Miami, he may have a chance to win the Ballon d’Or playing outside Europe, but he will still be waiting to achieve the unique Golden Foot award.
In the past, Cristiano Ronaldo has also won the award. The Portuguese football legend won it in 2020, beating both Messi and Lewandowski at a ceremony in Turin when he was still playing for Juventus. As Lionel Messi looks forward to this year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris, he may also have a chance at winning the Golden Foot. However, only time will tell if the Argentine magician can secure both awards.
