Henry Cavill has already exited from the role of Superman due to the newly-formed DC Studios’ plans on taking the Man of Steel in a different direction. But that’s not the only role he has said goodbye to. The actor has also resigned from Netflix’s fantasy series The Witcher.
His unanticipated departure from both roles (Superman and Geralt of Rivia) came as a shocker to many fans.
There’s a challenge for Hemsworth as he already faced abundant criticism and hate from fans for replacing Cavill. But he faces another nightmare after The Witcher Creator Andrzej Sapkowski said Netflix never listens to his ideas for the show—which is just fuel to the fire.
Another Nightmare for Liam Hemsworth Unfolds as The Witcher Creator Speaks Out
In a recent interview with The Witcher creator Andrzej Sapkowski, a YouTuber named Cerealkillerz asked the author whether Netflix took any ideas from him when he visited the show sets. Sapkowski sarcastically replied that showrunners “never listened to me.” The Polish writer said:
“But no, maybe I gave them some ideas, but they never listen to me. They never listen to me, but it’s normal, ‘Who’s this? It’s the writer, it’s nobody.’”
Fans Criticize Netflix’s Choice as Liam Hemsworth Takes on as Geralt of Rivia
Netflix has already explained why they decided to recast the leading role instead of ending the series with its original Geralt. Netflix’s head of U.S. and Canada scripted series, Peter Friedlander, told Variety:
“There has been a legacy of amazing, iconic characters where the actors have changed and we’re hugely optimistic about this. We will continue to honor the IP, the fans, the storytelling, all the way through.”
Friedlander looked optimistically toward the future of the show and added, “Henry is an extraordinary Geralt and I think Liam will continue and also be an extraordinary Geralt.” But it looks like the audience’s response contradicts this view.
And guess what? Fans criticized the streaming platform after it went viral that Hemsworth would be cast as Geralt of Rivia. They said Hemsworth’s version would not be as good as Cavill’s. Even in a Radio Times poll, 66% of participants (132 votes in total) disagreed with the Killerman star being the right choice for the role.
