It is evident from Henry Cavill’s physique that it was a result of a rigorous procedure. If the reports are to be believed then the actor also had to face some painful consequences due to the workout routine. Taking in 5000 calories daily isn’t child’s play and it had some serious repercussions on the Superman fame.

Succeeding Brandon Routh, Henry Cavill delivered an iconic performance as the Last Son of Krypton in the Zack Snyder directorial. In the movie, we saw the Immortals actor donning a magnificent physique as the Superhero. According to IGN, the actor went through three stages of workout to achieve the physique.

The first stage involved gaining mass and weight which led Henry Cavill to take in 5000 calories daily basis. Despite not being too difficult for the actor’s love for food, it was not simple for him as well. The Mission: Impossible- Fallout actor explained that at the end of the first stage, he was almost about to explode.

“The program involved three stages. The first was to gain weight/mass. So I spent weeks eating nearly 5000 calories daily while lifting extremely heavy, to grow bigger. I love eating, so this stage was not difficult for me, even though I can understand that some people end up having enough of drinking protein shakes 1000 calories a glass. At the end of this stage, I looked like a swole bodybuilder, and I felt like I was going to explode.”

The second stage involved losing all the fat and sculpting the godly muscles. Ultimately, the process ended with a focus on specific parts of the body. Henry Cavill praised his trainer Mark Twight for helping him work on his abs and muscles. Now it will be interesting to watch if David Corenswet can also prove himself as an ideal successor to Cavill.

Henry Cavill was insecure about his perfect body

Henry Cavill involved himself in such a tedious process to don the role of the Last Son of Krypton that the actor became insecure about his physique. The sudden transformation took a toll on him and the actor couldn’t comprehend the changes that happened to his body.

The Enola Holmes fame had to throw out most of his existing outfits because of the substantial reduction of his waist size. As he became harder and leaner, his shoulders also bulked up. But he was not a huge fan of the V-Shape initially and felt insecure about his monstrous physique. He stated (via IMDb):

“The body got harder and leaner. But the biggest change was the waist getting smaller. A lot smaller. I genuinely had to throw my clothes out, since my shoulders are too big and my waist is too small. Everything just doesn’t fit like it used to. I have never been this big.”

However, all his hard work resulted in success because he was able to make a place in the hearts of the fans. Although things didn’t work out well with his version of Superman and he didn’t receive any closure in the existing DCEU, the fans will forever remember one of the best superhero castings ever.
