Meghan Markle Suits acting career airbrushed from Royal Family website

MEGHAN Markle has been now been added to the official Royal Family website as the Duchess of Sussex after her Royal Wedding to Prince Harry yesterday. However, the new royal’s acting career was noticeably played down on her official page.

Meghan Markle is now the Duchess of Sussex, but her acting career was noticeably played down

Meghan became the Duchess of Sussex after the title of the Duke of Sussex was bestowed upon her husband Harry by the Queen before their Royal Wedding.

The new Duchess was welcomed into the Royal Family and an official page was set up by Kensington Palace in her honour following the ceremony.

However, Meghan’s career as an actress was noticeably missing from the front page and appears buried in the Duchess’s biography page.

Instead, the former US actress’s charitable work features prominently on the main ‘About The Duchess of Sussex’ page.

The Royal Family’s website states: “From a young age, The Duchess had a keen awareness of social issues and actively participated in charitable work.

“Aged 11 she successfully campaigned for a company to alter their television advert that had used sexist language to sell washing-up liquid.

“Her Royal Highness also volunteered at a soup kitchen in Skid Row, Los Angeles from the age of 13-17. She continued to volunteer at the soup kitchen when she would return home to Los Angeles until the age of 22.”

The page provides just one hint to her past as a successful Hollywood actress as it adds: “While filming in Toronto, The Duchess actively volunteered at a Canadian soup kitchen from 2011-2013.”

Meghan studied a double major in theatre and international relations at Northwestern University in Illinois, in the US.

She then spent years trying to breaking into the competitive Hollywood industry, accepting small roles in dozens of TV series and she even became a ‘suitcase girl’ on the US gameshow Deal or No Deal before she made her big break out on the legal drama Suits.

Her career as an actress is mentioned on the Duchess’s biography page along with her education.

The Duchess’s biography page states: “After university Her Royal Highness worked as an actress, appearing in film and television.

“She most notably played the role of Rachel Zane on the series Suits for seven seasons, completing over 100 episodes.

“Whilst working on Suits, The Duchess moved to Toronto, Canada where the show was filmed; she feels very connected to Canada, as it became a second home to her.”

The page also features a picture of Meghan as Rachel on the US legal drama and mentions her now shutdown blog The Tig, which a the time had thousands of followers.

The Duchess’s biography continues: “Alongside her successful career as an actress, Her Royal Highness also wrote and edited a lifestyle website called The Tig which she used as a platform to discuss social issues such as gender equality in addition to articles on travel, food and fashion.”

Royal expert Victoria Murphy tweeted: “Am I the only person who is sad that the new Duchess of Sussex’s official web page barely mentions her acting career.
