Henry Cavill has always taken care of his body and muscular physique ever since The Tudors back in 2007. Starring in several more iconic roles such as Superman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel and Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher, the actor has maintained his body.
In his pursuit to maintain his muscular physique, the actor has had to follow a very strict diet and an intense workout routine throughout the years. Sacrificing several things along the way, the actor sometimes does miss his old companion which is bad for his abs!
Henry Cavill Has To Give Up A Dear Old Companion
Being a gentleman of an actor, Cavill has had his fair share of naked and shirtless scenes. Often tortured by the public to take off his shirt in public, Cavill has indeed gone through some rough phases with his body.
Losing and gaining body weight for his roles, the actor tries to maintain the ideal body permanently. Forcing himself to give up several food items and beverages, Henry Cavill revealed in an interview with OT that his favorite drink is Guinness.
“Dublin is awesome too, very scenic and home to my favourite beer, Guinness.”
But in drinking Guinness arrives a complication for the actor. As per the actor’s quotes recorded on IMDB, the actor revealed that the beer brand is not ideal for six-pack abs and thus, he has to give it up!
“[on what he has to give up while keeping in shape for Superman] Guinness is what I crave, but it is not ideal for six pack abs.”
Despite having and maintaining this muscular physique, the actor has several times doubted himself over his body. Calling himself “fat Superman” Cavill was sure that he would get rejected for the role when he auditioned in front of Zack Snyder.
When Henry Cavill Called Himself “Fat Superman”
During the auditions for the role of Superman in Zack Snyder’s movie Man of Steel, Henry Cavill revealed that he wasn’t as fat as he wanted to be. In an interview with GQ magazine, the actor reported that he was “fat Superman”.
“It was totally embarrassing. I wasn’t in training. I wasn’t feeling fit or looking good, and you put on a Lycra suit and it does not help it. I just thought, OK, I’m not getting this job. I’m fat Superman. It’ll be some really in-shape dude that when they step out they look amazing.”
But when he walked out with the suit on, these big burly men just looked in awe and no one laughed at the actor. Zack Snyder revealed that that was the test and Cavill was selected for the role of Superman in the DCEU until his removal in James Gunn’s DCU.
